ITEP works with NIEA to accomplish their mission to advance comprehensive, culture-based educational opportunities for AI/AN/NH children.

National Indian Education Association

ITEP Co-Directors Drs. Shirley & Garcia created a new section within AERA's Division K: "Indigenous Teaching and Teacher Education"

American Educational Research Association

ITEP is 1 of 13 university, college, or educational departments in NNTEC contributing to their 5-year plan to improve the quality of Diné education

Native Nations

Our Arizona tribes regularly host ITEP student teachers who often go on to become teachers in these communities. Additionally, we support students in building new partnerships with their local Indigenous community schools to facilitate fieldwork experience and complete their student teaching portion of the program.
