Spring 2024 Indigenous Pedagogies Speaker Series

A presentation on the impacts of the Safety Zone Theory (SZT) in schools serving Native students. Within the ITEP program,  our teacher candidates have thoroughly read your book entitled To Remain an Indian, and have had the opportunity to engage in critical discussions around the historical analysis within the book. These discussions have prompted our teacher candidates to think critically and critically reflect on their role and responsibilities as educators now serving Native students. This event will consist of our ITEP teacher candidates, ITEP graduate students/assistants, and will be open to the larger public, primarily educators serving Native students in Indigenous communities.
